Onion, salt, beef stock, worcestershire sauce, lean braising steak and 10 more. Typically, the food is first sautéed or seared at a high temperature, then finished in a covered pot at a lower temperature while sitting in some (variable) amount of liquid (which may also add flavor). This steak pie is so yummy and is a perfect winter warmer.

Braised flank steak becomes flavorful and tender when simmered slowly in chicken broth with garlic, cloves, and lemon juice in a stovetop preparation that's easy on the cook. For the low and slow step, i prefer the oven as it is more forgiving (no checking to make sure the bottom doesn't scorch) and i think it cooks more evenly. What is kidney pie made of?
